Lake County Florida Waterfront Restaurants

Lake County has a number of wonderful waterfront restaurants. Here are our personal favorites. They didn't pay us to be listed, we just love 'em.

Hurricane Dockside Grill (Tavares on the Dead River)

This restaurant was built about 10 years ago and went through a number of names and owners before the current operators got things right. It's a visually attractive restaurant with a Florida Keys vibe. The menu is good and the food, service and prices are great. Located on the waterway connecting Lake Eustis and Big Lake Harris, it has a large dock area that can accommodate most lake sized boats. As you walk in the restaurant, be sure to check out the baby alligators that live in the small inlet next to the boardwalk. This restaurant can accommodate a large number of people and the service is excellent. Live music outside on the deck on the weekends.

Puddle Jumpers (At the Tavares Seaplane Base)

Puddle Jumpers is located on the shores of Lake Dora at the Tavares Seaplane base next to downtown Tavares.  It's open air style dining with nice tables and chairs. There is also indoor dining if the weather is bad, but the real treat is to sit outside at Al's in the evening and watch the beautiful sunsets over Lake Dora. It's also a great place for lunch in the cooler months while you watch Seaplanes land and take off across the lake. The menu is light, the food is great and the live entertainment on weekends is wonderful. This restaurant is a must!

JB Boondocks Bar and Grill (Howey-in-the-Hills on Little Lake Harris)

This small waterfront restaurant is a big favorite with Harris Chain boaters. It is located on the west shore of Little Lake Harris in the quaint town of Howey-in-the-Hills.  The menu is not extensive but the food is good and the service is timely. Years ago, this restaurant was a tackle shop and marina.  The current owners are the owners of the popular Palm Grill in downtown Mount Dora. Worth a visit!

Lake Harris Hideaway (Tavares on Big Lake Harris)

This restaurant is an old time Harris Chain favorite that has had an extensive facelift.  It is popular with boaters and bickers alike. Food is burgers and such. The beer is cold and tastes great as you watch the world go by enjoying the beautiful Harris Chain view. Great place to stop by for lunch after a morning of fishing or cruising.

Eustis City Docks (Downtown Eustis)

The City of Eustis is a small lakefront City located on the northeast shore of Lake Eustis. The City maintains a large waterfront area of floating docks that can accommodate most lake sized boats. From the City docks, the downtown area restaurants are just a short walk away. Eustis is another city that has been going through a significant renaissance since the Waterman Hospital relocated 10 years ago. The City is very Old Florida with newer buildings being constructed to maintain the same look as the older buildings. The lakefront Crazy Gator Restaurant is located in an old storage building and contains many antiques and photos from the early days of Eustis. A Mexican, Cuban and upscale Italian Restaurant are among the choices along with Olivia's Coffee House.

Tavares Seaplane Base (On Lake Dora)

Tavares is the County Seat of Lake County Florida. Behind the strictly business Court and Government buildings is a good sized lakefront area that is quickly becoming a popular area for locals and visitors.  This area is directly on the water and adjacent to a sizeable public dock area. Al's Landing is directly in front of the docks along with a number of smaller but no less popular restaurants. One of the counties oldest restaurants, O'Keefe's Irish Pub is also located here. This waterfront area is also the site of the newly relocated Antique boat and popular high performance boating events.
