April 6, 2007 - Suspension Problem Cured.

Seems the bargain front suspension kit I bought from Mustangs Unlimited was not everything I had hoped.  As with most repro parts, there was a problem.  The cheap upper control arms were binding on the shafts causing a popping sound in the spring towers. I took the springs and front A-arms out two times trying to find the problem.   If you loosened the retaining nuts the noise would go away then return after a short drive. After a week of skinning my knuckles and everything else, I finally found a great solution on the Vintage Mustang Forum.   Open Tracker Racing Products makes a set of road race quality upper control arms and roller spring perches that banished my noise forever.  As a bonus these arms work so well that they greatly improved the steering effort and handling.  Don't even think about rebuilding your Mustang  front-end without these parts...they work!

The Open Tracker A-arms are based on the stock design but are much beefier and higher quality the than cheap repros.

The A-arm preload is fixed and held in place by a welded on tab. They even came with the correct angled grease fittings.

Slipped these babies in place and rode away without the slightest hint of creaking or strange noises.  Blood pressure and frustration level is now much better.
