1965 Mustang Fastback Project

November 22, 2006 - On the ground.......

Another month has come and gone, but we are making good progress now.   I am very encouraged as the car is coming out much better than I thought it would.   I guess when you buy everything new you should get a new car.   I asked the UPS man how it felt to carry a '65 Mustang up my drive way one piece at a time and he smiled.  I think I'll buy him a Christmas present!

Took half of the spacers out of the top A-arms to compensate for the 1" Shelby drop.  The alignment looks much better.  Bumper guards were a pain, but look good.  Hood is off waiting for the Cobra motor.  Scored the vintage Shelby license plate on EBay.

Having a hard time matching the '65 GT350 decals with the Wimbledon White stripes so I am going to find a sign painter that can paint them on.  Hard to tell in this picture but I lowered the car 1" in the rear.  Should be perfect with the motor in it's place and the car settles some.

Here's the 1969 dual master cylinder and the SSB combo distribution block and proportioning valve setup. Lines were a big problem but I got through it somehow.  I decided to use stainless front brakes lines and pedal feel is very good.

Battery relocation came out real nice. Used a modified '67 Mustang battery tray and hold-down.  Ran the cable through the car encapsulated in rubber hose.
