December 2, 2006 - Motor in the air!

Today I installed the Cobra motor and transmission. I thought about installing the tranny on the engine and putting the whole thing in at once, but I didn't want to take a chance on nicking up my paint.  Besides, I've been doing it the old fashioned way for 40 years, so why start something new now.  Amazingly the four speed slid right into the clutch disk and bolted up without any side trips to the hospital.

Here's the Skunk with it's mouth open just waiting for it's Cobra transplant.  The towel is there to protect the valve covers. Crude I know, but it works...

Here's the Cobra motor sitting in the engine bay after the header and accessory installation. Real Shelby guys will notice the early evenly spaced export brace bolts. A correct reinforcement brace is welded to the firewall and is barely noticeable in this picture.

Looks a lot better with the shifter sticking through the floor.  Clutch linkage is connected and all works fine. Can you believe the C-4 drive shaft was even the right length?  I am going to have a new one built anyway since I don't much care for vibrations under the seat.  Still waiting for the heater and radio delete plates.
