April 17, 2008 - Roller Bearing Clutch Pedals & Centerforce Clutch

The car has been together for about a year now and I am finally getting around to fixing a couple of things that have been bugging me.  I originally went with a 3-finger Zoom clutch to save a little money.  The clutch chattered on very low speed take-offs and the pedals didn't seem to be quite right. On closer inspection, I found that the front seal on the transmission had been leaking which put grease on the flywheel.  Also, the clutch and brake pedal hanger was worn and the pedals were moving around in their mounting holes.  I sent the pedals and hanger off to Mustang Steve for a full roller upgrade.  Then, upgraded to a Centerforce clutch set.  Wow, what a difference!  The clutch releases silky smooth and the pedals don't rattle around like they used to.

I had to get under the car again and pull down the tranny.  That was a piece of cake compared to removing the pedals and brackets.  What a PITA.

Here's the Clutch and Brake pedal hanger after Mustang Steve did his magic. The new races hold two full roller bearings.  Feels like a new car.  This is one of the best $90 you can spend on your Mustang.

Here's the tranny after I installed the new seal.  The seal was $13 from NAPA.  I'm getting a little old for this tranny thing, but you do what you have to do...
