1965 Mustang Fastback Project

January 28, 2007 - Almost there..

Had the headliner installed this week.  Also installed the mirror, inside door trim, glove box, and fixed a bunch of odds and ends.  Also bought and installed a 4.11 Trac Lock posi rear.   Drove the car around the block a few times to get the feel of the 4.11.  Wow!  What a difference.  The car pulls hard in all the gears and it's a lot more fun to drive.  Traction is a big problem with long black streaks on demand.  Wish I had this car in High School!

In this picture you can see the 1965 Shelby Dash Pod.  Side windows are in and actually work.  The seats came out great.  All we need now is front and rear glass and we're driving.

Another picture of the dash.  Correct 1965 Shelby gauges and pod came from Branda.  The radio delete plate has been on back order for a month or so,  something about the mold being bad.  Guess I have to put up with the radio hole for a while.  Who cares...the sound of the Lemans cam and the solid lifters are music to my ears.

Got the man himself to sign my glove box.  Now that's cool!

Fabricated the Shelby tray spare tire hold down out of repro parts.  This space will hold a full size Torque Thrust Original wheel and tire.  Should look great peering out of the back window.

Found  a new old  stock Florida 400th Anniversary license plate on EBay.  The State of Florida authenticated the plate. The "Q" designation was for an antique car.  I wonder what kind of car this plate was originally purchased for?
