Windshield Installation |
|
|
My local glass guy wanted $550 for the windshield and installation. I bought this windshield from Auto City Classic for $269.00. Picked it up at a local car show and saved the freight. |

The first thing to tackle is installing the new gasket on the glass. It's a little difficult to stretch the gasket around the glass, but not all that bad. I used sealer to hold the gasket in position. You don't want the gasket to move around while you're installing it. After the gasket is firmly in place, the chrome trim fits into a grove in the gasket. |

This is nice because you can get everything right while its sitting on the bench. The windshield, gasket and trim are assembled as a unit. Lube the gasket with motor oil and using the string method as shown in the manual. It went smoother than I had expected. |

The trim and windshield fit much nicer than the trim on my Mustang. My 57 Ford was built when they used high quality stainless instead of thin tin junk for trim. |
