Shortblock Assembly |
|
|
Sean says the painted car is about 30 days from delivery, so I decided to assemble the short block to get it out of the way. Block is a late sixties 390 service truck block + .030. Piston are Speed Pro. I CC'd everything and the final compression ratio is 9.5 to 1. Should be about right with Florida Premium pump gas. |

Block preparation by Ray's Auto Machine in Eustis, Florida. Crank and rods by Heart Beat Racing Mount Dora and the rotating assembly was balanced by Power by Ford in Orlando. All work was checked upon receipt and all specs were spot-on. |

Rods are reconditioned CJ units with SPS rod bolts installed. Crank is reworked stock Ford Truck Part. It took some heavy metal to balance the big rods. |

Short block assembly was smooth and event free. Cam is a Holman and Moody copy of the stock Ford 427 medium riser unit. This motor is way better than the 272 Y-Block I removed from the car and according to the specs weighs about the same. |
