March 17, 2010   Master Cylinder Conversion

The old '57 single reservoir master cylinder just won't cut it anymore. Ever had the brake pedal go to the floor with no brakes?  Well I have!  This conversion is easy and makes the car much safer.

This is a stock 1967 Mustang drum brake master cylinder.  Bolts right up if you use the 57 Ford actuator arm and reroute the brake lines.

I plan to convert the car to disks in the future, so I installed a Stainless Steel Brake Corporation combo proportioning valve and distribution block.  Tucks along side the frame nicely. The shiny part in this picture is the Mustang brake light switch.  You need this as the 57 brake light switch is mounted on the master cylinder, which we are not using.

The stainless trim on this car is so perfect all it needed was a light polishing with Mother's.  Starting to look like a car now.
