Clutch Linkage Fix |
|
|
If you plan to use the stock Ford Y-Block clutch linkage with the big block FE motor and a manual transmission, you will need to make the following modifications. The problem is that the Z-Bar will sit in the car tilted toward to the front on the motor side and the Z-Bar will hit the side of the bigger engine block. The fix is actually pretty easy. The stock Ford Y-Block motor mounts work fine as well as the stock 1957 Ford transmission mount and cross member. Pretty much of a bolt-in. |

|
First relocate the engine side Z-Bar mounting stud 3/4" to the rear. We punched out the stud, drilled a new hole then welded the stud in from the back. |

Here is the stock Y-Block
1957 Z-bar after moving the clutch rod lever in 1". This is
necessary because the FE motor in wider than the Y-Block. |

Here's everything hooked up
and ready to go. The T85 overdrive transmission is in the car for a test
fit. The FE clutch fork is not installed, but is about 1" longer. |
